This is a complete course based on explosive detection dog training in Europe, but designed to have fun with a domestic dog. It will teaches you the basics of the reward system and how to use clicker training as a base to scent detection.  Depending on the dog we may use toys or lures to encourage the reward.

 

It is really important that your dog is not reactive as we use minimal control as we do not want a negative interaction for dogs or to the scent.  There is lots of space kept between them to ensure no accidents.

 

What is taught?

* Precision timing for the human so the behaviours are marked correctly.

* How to teach a dog to engage with the scent.

* Teaching the human the dynamics of scent in the environment.

* Several techniques to teach the dog to then recognise the scent.

* Scent Pays - teaching that finding the scent pays dividends.

* We teach the dog how to mark and indicate a scent is found.

* We teach the dog to locate a scent around objects.

* We teach the dog to locate in a variety of situations.

* We take the dog into the real world to locate the scent and reduce the amount of scent accessible to make it harder..

* We take these skills to then be able to do it at home to engage the brain and tire the dog.
